What is EmotionsBC all about?

Emotions BC was formed in 2018 as a non-profit society to provide and deliver support and services to people who have loved ones dealing with mental health challenges or are themselves finding it hard to find “their people” who understand what they are going through. Continuing with their success, in 2019 EmotionsBC became a registered charity.

GOAL: To improve emotional health and wellness for families and their loved ones.

Everything they do is based on their IMPACT on mental and physical well-being.

I’m feeling heard … EMPATHY

My experiences are valid … VALIDATION + PERSPECTIVE

Powerful skill building ,,, EMPOWERMENT + HOPE

Ask for help … COURAGE + VULNERABILITY

It affects us all

Mental illness affects all Canadians at some point, whether through their own personal experience or that of family member, friend or co-worker.

Covid-19

Covid-19 has caused a drastic increase in our need for mental health services.

1 in 5

In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health challenge or illness.

Fitting in

Mental illness is still not widely spoken about because of the stigma & fear of what others will think. This is changing and we need to accelerate this change.

By age 40

By age 40, about 50% of the population will have or have had a mental illness.

The number is 20

Approximately 20% of Canadian youth are affected by a mental illness or disorder.

Taking care of your mental wellness is an act of self-love and self-care. You are worthy of happiness and so are the people around you.
